World No Tobacco DayToday is World No Tobacco Day, as organized by the World Health Organization’s Tobacco Free Initiative.

Part of a truly Coordinated Approach To Child Health is making sure young people do not start using tobacco products, no matter the vehicle. A recent report from the CDC indicates that e-cigarette use is on the rise in youth, rising from 0.6% to 5.3% among middle school students. On May 5, the FDA issued a ruling prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes to minors, and the Surgeon General stated in a recent talk with our friends at the Michael and Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living that “there is no reason children should be using e-cigarettes.” (For video, see below.)
