Chris Corliss

Chris has been at the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) in Costa Mesa, CA, since 2004. He provides leadership in Health Education, Physical Education, Fitness Education, and School Wellness. He is the Project Director for OCDE-STEM Health Sciences Team initiative Move More Eat Healthy at School, a countywide health physical activity promotion program now in use by in over 4000 Orange County elementary classroom teachers.

Chris has 25 years’ experience as an award winning teacher, coach, and administrator. He delivers technical support, consulting, policy and program analysis and strategic planning for all 28 Orange County school districts. He is an expert in K-12 health, physical education, student fitness, wellness, curriculum and instruction and has presented at over 100 national, state and regional professional conferences and meetings including: CDE; CDPH; SHAPE; SW-AAHPERD; Child Obesity; CAHPERD; CASHE; CA School Wellness Policy; Nutrition and Physical Activity Collaborative; and CA Pre-School Consortium.

Chris has a degree in Physical Education from Cal State Long Beach and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Cal State Los Angeles. He has been a certified trainer for Fitness for Life; CA and SHAPE (National) Health and Physical Education Standards; Physical Best; CATCH; Project Based Learning; Cognitive Coaching; ASES Youth & High School Coaching; and FITNESSGRAM Assessment. He was CAHPERD Administrator of the Year in 2007, winner of the 2009 CAHPERD Presidential Award, the 2010 CAHPERD Clark Hetherington Educational Leadership Award, and 2012 Orange County Department of Education Crystal Bell Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership.
