Jo Ambrose, B.S., is a certified Master Trainer for the Coordinated Approach To Child Health (CATCH) elementary school and after-school programs. She is also a trained observer for the System for Observing Fitness Instruction Time (SOFIT). From 2004 through 2009, Ms. Ambrose served as the first statewide coordinator for the Illinois CATCH program implemented through the Illinois Department of Public Health. During that time, she developed and administered grants to nearly 100 schools and trained approximately 500 school personnel. She has co-authored several articles on CATCH and presented at many conferences and workshops throughout Illinois. Jo was honored as a National CATCH Champion in 2008. Ms. Ambrose also has served and chaired several committees for the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (IAHPERD). From 2009-2015, Jo independently provided CATCH trainings across the United States as assigned. During that time, she was employed with the State of Illinois, Department of Human Services as a Public Service Administrator. Jo is now enjoying retirement and will continue to provide CATCH trainings and assist in the promotion of the program.
