By Karen Doramus-Burnell, M.Ed., National CATCH Training Director Through a collaboration between the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance and The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, the “Healthy U” program has introduced the award-winning CATCH curriculum to engage children in noncompetitive games and moderate-to-vigorous exercise at YMCA after-school sites across the state. The project started with a Train the Trainer Academy in the Spring of 2008, and was aimed at targeting 359 YMCA sites across the state of New Jersey.
