This session will identify facilitators and barriers to PA across settings while also reviewing strategies of successful teachers. Participants will receive sample activities, practice classroom management strategies, and learn ways to empower students as leaders for school-wide physical activity promotion.

Big Gym, Little Bodies: Introducing PE to Young Students

Wednesday, Mar 15, 2017
1:30 PM – 2:45 PM
Sheraton, Back Bay B
Speakers: Abby Rose

Many children come to preschool or even kindergarten with no structured school experience outside of the home, let alone physical education. This transition to a formal educational environment can be challenging for students as well as for the PE teachers who are hoping to give them that important start toward developing physical literacy and a lifetime of physical activity. This session will provide some real-world strategies for engaging young children in PE class.
