About the CATCH News Editor
Welcome to CATCH News, my name is Kathy Chichester and I am the "Campaign Manager" for CATCH, My job is to get CATCH and coordinated school health in every school we can reach. I can't do it alone so we have put together a CATCH Team we will be introducing you to over the coming months (that's me down front at a recent CATCH Team meeting). As the editor of CATCH News, I will make sure we bring you the most timely and informative information available concerning childhood obesity and the prevention programs designed to fight this epidemic.
We also invite you to explore our new website. CATCHInfo.org has been created to become the foundation for coordinated school health programs.
Together with CATCH News, these information sources will help keep you informed about a myriad of health issues concerning our children and how best to address those issues. Again, we won't be doing this alone, these new resources will guide you to other organizations, educational and corporate who are also concerned about childhood obesity.
Meet one of our CATCH Team members. This is Eileen Avato, and she knows CATCH. Eileen travels the country promoting coordinated school health and CATCH. What's CATCH? Click on About CATCH on the left side menu and explore the world of CATCH. Or, email Eileen at: eileen.avato@Flaghouse.com and she will gladly take you through the steps of introducing coordinated school health to your school. Eileen, she's STILL the best!
Meet Karen Doramus-Burnell. She knows the CATCH Program! Not only has she taught with the CATCH Program in two different school districts and led summer sports camps using the CATCH Kids Club curriculum, she has also been involved in numerous grant-funded projects since joining the CATCH Team at the University of Texas, School of Public Health. She has seen firsthand how the CATCH Program can help coordinate efforts in a school and the impact it can have on a school community. As the CATCH National Training Director, she heads up a team of National Trainers, and she can answer any question when it comes to implementing Coordinated School Health and creating positive changes and healthy environments. She resides in Dallas, Texas, and you can email her at karen.m.burnell@uth.tmc.edu.
Meet one of our new CATCH Team members. This is Carol Caldara, and she knows nutrition. If you have a question about the CATCH nutrition components, food guide pyramid, or healthy eating, email Carol at:
carol.caldara@flaghouse.com and she will gladly help you out.

One last thing, we expect letters! We want to hear from you about what's going on in your school and community. Click on "Letters to the Editor" on the left hand navigation bar and tell us what you're thinking or see what others are thinking. We also want to hear about what you think about our newsletter and website and how we can make it better. To fight childhood obesity and improve the lifestyles of our children we need dialogue, and new ideas, and news from you about what's going on in our schools and communities. So, join our CATCH Team and let's get moving!
