Obesity is on the rise. But CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health) is poised to support health, wellness and obesity-prevention efforts for children, now and for the rest of their lives. Don’t forget: CATCH has been cited as the “most cost effective program to reduce child obesity.”

The 2011 National Prevention Strategy includes a comprehensive focus on increasing obesity-prevention efforts in our communities. For children, these strategies include evidence-based recommendations for healthy eating and active living.

CATCH is an ideal fit for your community’s efforts. Its primary goal is to prevent chronic disease through a coordinated approach to health. CATCH promotes moderate to vigorous physical activity, healthy eating behaviors and tobacco abstention.

Over 20 years of research and development have made CATCH a model program – replicated in over 8,500 schools and communities. State and County Health Departments across the country are using CATCH to make a lasting impact on the health of children and their families.

CATCH is an evidence-based, National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded program proven to:

Increase Physical Activity
Improve Student Nutrition Habits
Reduce Sodium and Saturated Fats in School Lunches
Sustain Student Health Behaviors at Least Three Years Post Intervention
Decrease Obesity Rates
